Imporant Announcement! Tour of the Fleurieu 2025 – Cancelled.

Tour of the Fleurieu 2025 – Cancelled.

In consultation with the CFS, AusCycling and the AHCC Committee we regret to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Beyond Bank Tour of the Fleurieu this weekend due to the severe weather and extreme fire danger rating issued by the local authorities.

We don’t take this decision lightly but out of an utmost respect for the safety of our riders, volunteers, officials and the local community.

Team and individual entries will be refunded in the following days, if you have any questions then please contact David Hammond via president@adelaidehillscc.org.au or 0478 321 847

ToF News – We are accepting individual entries as well as Teams!

Tour of the Fleurieu

Earlybird entries are still open until 31st Jan 2025 and for the first time we’re also extending entries to individuals!

The format remains the same as last year.
Day 1 kicks off with some fast-paced action in the flatlands near Finniss beginning with a short Team Time Trial and then followed by a longer flat Road Race.

Day 2 is where things get a bit more challenging with some flat racing mixed in with a few hills around Waitpinga to test your legs. The final stage will bring us to the well-known hill climb up Crows Nest Rd — a tough but rewarding finish to the day!

Find all the details at https://www.adelaidehillscc.org.au/tour-of-the-fleurieu/

**If you’re still looking for a team to race for then use the individual entry and we’ll try to match you up to a similar graded team.

End of Year Charity Race – Oakwood Rd

End of Year Charity Race
Oakwood Rd (8/12)
Entries are open for this Sunday’s Charity Race on the Oakwood Road in Balhannah (Sunday 8 December). Entries will be donated to a local charity, so come along and race for a good cause!

******We will be putting on a sausage sizzle after the race, so be sure to hang around and join in the fun!******

Enter Here

Oakwood Road is another classic course featuring a number of short, sharp climbs that in isolation aren’t much to write home about, but when strung together in a race get significantly more difficult as each lap passes.

Add to that a number of enjoyable descents, the course makes for a great morning of racing.

If you haven’t raced before or aren’t familiar with the lingo, a Kermesse is a graded race on a short course (typically less than 10km) and can be thought of something in between a criterium and road race. For our purposes and without getting too complicated, it’s a road race on a short course. So while the distances are similar to our road races, you just do more laps.

– Entry is $25 (+ transponder hire), with proceeds being donated to a local charity
– We have grades for all abilities and skill levels, from the incredibly fast to the not-so-fast. All welcome.
– Short course (G Grade) option is now available.
– Free trial races are available.
– You don’t need to be an AHCC member to race with us, just an AusCycling license holder.

She Rides On bunch ride – Dec 1st 2024

The next AHCC “She Rides On” bunch ride is on 1st December 2024 in the Adelaide Hills! We have our “usual” flat monthly ride too – on 15th December – see my separate post (soon to be published) for info on that ride.

On the 1st December we are riding the Club’s Oakwood Road course – this is a short circuit course & we’ll use re-groups to stay together. Like our flat ride our Hills ride is suitable for women who are members of AusCycling (any Club) riding in cleats on a road bike with some road & bunch riding experience. We enjoy coffee together afterwards too. We’d love your company ..especially if you’d like to “come-&-try” our race on this course on the following Sunday 8th December. I’ll be in G grade that day helping out as a mentor rider for anyone who is new to racing with AHCC or hasn’t raced this course before or in recent times.

Full ride details and registration for 1st December ride are on StackTeam App…search for “She Rides On Adelaide Hills CC”.

If you have any issues with Stack Team App or would like more details about the ride on 1st December, or about riding with me at our race on 8th December, please contact me, Margaret Boylan, at margaret@firstprinciplescoaching.com.au or on 0427 701 658
