BECOME A REF!
Hey all
How about becoming a club referee! Think of the power and authority you will hold in the palm of your hand to determine the fate of all those riders who have given you grief in past races.
Referees are critical to running our events – no ref, no event.
It would be totally fab for a few more refs to be added to the pool at our club. Will help spread the load plus make sure we can cover off all of our events all of the time.
What’s needed I hear you ask!
Bugger all for an intelligent bunch like you folks.
You just need to pass a test to show you know your left hand from your right, and have some supervision doing some ref gigs.
The next ‘become a ref’ session will be held on 24th June at the SDVLCC clubrooms (not a race day for us – yay!) and will be in the morning while the SDVLCC have a poor excuse for a race going on.
Can we ask that you give it some serious thought and take the challenge if you are possibly able? We have chocolate, a new $20K Pinarello Bike, and a free trip to the Tour de-France to all who take this on (well, at least the chocolate – the bike and trip might be a bit of a porky).
Just let us know: contact Sarah and Don: president@ahmcc.org.au or Phone Sarah 0409 910 079 Don 0437 967 088.
Here’s what you need to know to prepare:
AVCC REFEREE ASSESSMENT PROGRAM
The Assessment course will be run in a classroom format.
All candidates wishing to sit the assessment program need to have written approval from their club.
It is not compulsory for existing “Club” Referee`s to sit the test unless they apply to be up-graded.
All candidates should be advised that they need to be conversant with current AVCC RACING RULES & REGULATIONS & local Club Duties & Tasks.
Here are the important items:
• AVCC rules: Most recent document is attached.
• On the AVCC web site:
o AVCC Documents/Referee’s Accreditation – which just touches on the process for a Club referee to move up to State or National Accreditation.
o AVCC Documents/Guide for Referees – another key source of information (although there is at least one point where this contradicts the Racing Rules). Reiterates the process for a Club referee to move up to State or National Accreditation.
o AVCC Documents/Race Day Checklist – which shows the details required from each event.
o AVCC Documents/Over 80’s – candidates should be aware of the requirement, plus overall details of AVCC insurance.
• On the AHMCC web site:
o AHMCC Exteme Weather Policy
o AHMCC AHMCC Marshalling 2018 05 06
o AHMCC Traffic Marshall First Aid Policy
A basic knowledge of State Road Traffic Rules & Regulations would be beneficial.
Bearing in mind that this course is all about knowing the AVCC Rules & Regulations and being able to align them with local State Road Traffic Rules & Regulations.
