Oakwood Road Kermesse – CFS Charity Fundraiser

This Sunday we’re holding our last race of the year – a Kermesse at Oakwood Road, with all entry fees being donated to the Macclesfield CFS, with donations earmarked to upgrade protective eyewear for the volunteer firefighters.
Oakwood Road is another classic course featuring a number of short, sharp climbs that in isolation aren’t much to write home about, but when strung together in a race get significantly more difficult as each lap passes.
Add to that a number of enjoyable descents, the course makes for a great morning of racing.
If you haven’t raced before or aren’t familiar with the lingo, a Kermesse is a graded race on a short course (typically less than 10km) and can be thought of something in between a criterium and road race. For our purposes and without getting too complicated, it’s a road race on a short course. So while the distances are similar to our road races, you just do more laps.
✅ Just for this race, entry is $15 to make a more substantial donation to the Macclesfield CFS (+ transponder hire if required)
✅ We have grades for all abilities and skill levels, from the incredibly fast to the not-so-fast. All welcome.
✅ Short course (G Grade) option is now available.
✅ Free trial races are available.
✅ You don’t need to be an AHCC member to race with us, just a 19+ AusCycling license holder (or u19 that is eligible to race senior racing)

Stamps Rd Road Race (17/7)

We had originally intended to race the ‘Harrogate’ Course at Nairne on October 17, but due to planned council roadworks we’ve slotted in the ‘Stamps Rd’ course out at Macclesfield.

No bother though – we had actually had to cancel the most recent attempt at a race out at Macclesfield due to the weather, and we’ll be slotting Harrogate back into rotation in the next race calendar release.

Entries and event info (race length, course maps, etc) can be found here.

A quick look at the profile for the Stamps Rd reveals a short, sharp climb followed by a long, dragging descent into Macclesfield. What makes things even more interesting are several tight turns that add to the festivities across the ridge line of the climb.
All in all, a classic course for road racing that can suit strong puncheurs or lighter climbers depending on how the race unfolds.

✅ Entry is $10 (+ transponder hire if required)
✅ We have grades for all abilities and skill levels, from the incredibly fast to the not-so-fast. All welcome.
✅ Free trial races are available.
✅ You don’t need to be an AHCC member to race with us, just a 19+ AusCycling license holder (or u19 that is eligible to race senior racing)

Entries close Thursday 14 October at 9PM, don’t miss out.

Bradbury Kermesse (10/10)

The Bradbury Kermesse is a mainstay in the Adelaide racing scene for good reason – parcours with something for everyone; quiet, well maintained roads; and all within close proximity to the city.

Entries and event info are available via Entryboss here.

It also serves as an opportunity for you to double up on racing, with the Super Series points race on Saturday – with A/B/C grade getting a little opportunity to sleep in (see more on that below).

Start times are slightly different for this race – in an effort to maximise the number of riders on course, we have two different start times:

🕒 D, E, F & G Grades from 8:30am
🕒 A, B & C Grades from 10:00am

Entries and event info are available via Entryboss here.

More members than ever before!

We are really pleased to announce that our club now has more racing members than at any time in its history!

Our move to AusCycling at the start of this year was done with a strong support from our members and a conviction it was in the best interests of our members, the club, and racing here in SA.

The move wasn’t without its risks. There was a potential loss of membership as we changed our affiliation to Auscycling. We’ve been thrilled to have been so well supported by the SA Cycling community which has led to us being able to run great events with terrific fields. Our Club membership has continued to grow over this time giving us a record Club membership.

A big thanks to all who have supported us and contributed to the growth and development of the AHCC.
