Commissaire accreditation guide
AusCycling Commissaire Accreditation Program
for
Club-level accreditation
Overview
Introduction
Commissaires play a key role in the running of our events and gaining this accreditation is a great service to the club.
AusCycling’s Commissaire Program for club-level accreditation, that will qualify you to be a Vommissaire at AHCC events (plus club-level events for other AC clubs) is:
- Quite strait forward
- All done on-line other than for a practical assessment at an event once all of the on-line modules have been completed.
- Not overly time consuming or difficult.
- Free of charge
You do not need to be an AHCC member to complete the program or to be a Commissaire are our events.
It would be terrific if you could complete the program and become an accredited Commissaire.
Contact the AHCC President president@adelaidehillscc.org.au if you would like to take this step.
The Program
The Program comprises a number of on-line modules
You access the Program here: https://www.auscycling.org.au/page/sport-development/officials-education
Select: ‘AusCycling Regional Commissaire Course for Road racing’.
You also need to create an account for yourself.
The training modules
The on-line modules are:
MODULE |
NOTES |
RC Road – Downloadable Resources | This module (shown towards the end of the list) allows you to download all of the slides you will go through to complete the other modules.
It’s a good idea to download these first up so you can refer to them as you work through the modules, especially when doing the quizzes. If you have trouble downloading them, contact the club president president@adelaidehillscc.org.au |
Working with Children Check | Do this first.
You just need to apply for Working with Children clearance (if you don’t already have it) and, once you get the email confirming this, copy-and-paste the email content into a Word file and load it to the AC site using the link provided. Just go here https://screening.sa.gov.au/applications/application-information-for-individuals Once you have uploaded it to the AC site, AC verify it and then send you an email confirming this part of the accreditation process is done. |
SportAUS Community Officials Principles
|
This is a 3-module on-line course conducted through Sports Australia.
Once done, the completion certificate needs to be uploaded to the AusCycling portal (instructions on how to do this are provided on the AC site). Use the link provided for this module on the AC site to go to the Sports Australia training site. · Create an account. · Once the account is set up, go to the Sports Australia Learning Centre and select the “Community officiating – General Principles” program. There are 3 modules to do. The instructions say it will take about 3-hours to do however one of our members successfully completed it in well under half this time. There are quizzes at the end of each model, and all need to be correctly answered. If you get an answer wrong, you can re-do it until you get the right answer. Once completed, you will get an email with a link to your certificate. Download the certificate then upload it to the AC Commissaire training module site. You will be notified by AC when this has been reviewed and verified. |
RC Road – Practical Assessment
|
This needs to be booked and done within 6 months of completing all of the on-line training modules.
It is completed by way of a practical assessment, conducted by AC appointed officials, at an event. You can organise this yourself by using the booking system provided as part of the training module material or AHCC can organise this for you. If you want us to help, contact the AHCC President to make the arrangements: president@adelaidehillscc.org.au Once you are booked in for the practical, you’ll get an email with details of where, when, and what will be covered. One thing – make sure you are familiar with the reporting that needs to be done after an event, namely: · A report from the event Chief Commissaire (the Head of the Commissaire Panel for an event) gets sent to AusCycling to this address ‘SA Technical Delegate AusCycling’ techdel.auscyclingsa@gmail.com . You can view copies of reports the club has submitted here (password is AHCC COMMS) https://www.adelaidehillscc.org.au/volunteer/commissaire/commissaire-resources/chief-commissaire-reports-to-auscycling/ · If there is an incident (accident, incident with the public, complaint, property damage and so on), an Incident Report Form needs to also be submitted. A copy can be found here: https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership/other/club-resources |
General commissaire training modules:
1. RC – Module 1 – Introduction 2. RC – Module 3 – Communication & People Management 3. RC – Module 4 – Safety & Risk Management 4. RC – Module 5 – Bikes & Equipment 5. Concussion Management |
These modules can successfully be completed in about 15-20 minutes each.
They contain some questions to check your knowledge as you progress through them. These questions can be re-tried if you get something wrong. You need to get each question correct before being able to proceed though the module.
Some of the modules also have a test at the end where you need to get all questions correct. Some of the questions have multiple elements that all need to be correct but the system does not allow you to go back to the content to find where you may be going wrong if you do not get all items correct. Can be a bit frustrating if you miss something and have to keep trying to get it right (hence why downloading the slides for all the modules before you start the program is a good idea). Don’t try and go back to the online module content (say, by using the menu bar to do this) as you can get caught in a loop and end up needing to re-do the entire module again from scratch. |
RC – Road | This module focuses specifically on road racing and takes a bit longer – maybe 30-45 minutes
There is no final set of questions – just a series of questions as you progress. |
